Sugar prices up on strong demand, thin supply

Sugar prices strengthened by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today mostly attributed to strong demand from bulk consumers amid thin supplies from mills.

Marketmen said heavy buying by stockists and bulk consumers following beginning of a new month amid restricted supplies from mills mainly registered an uptick in sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,870-3,970 and Rs 3,860-3,960 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also improved by Rs 30 each to finish at Rs 3,530-3,690 and Rs 3,520-3,680 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Budhana and Thanabhavan hardened by Rs 50 each to Rs 3,660 and Rs 3,650, while Baghpat, Ramala and Morna swift by Rs 3,550, Rs 3,540 and Rs 3,550 per quintal.
 

Sugar Asmoli, Dhanora, Simbholi, Anupshaher and Nazibabad also marked higher by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,670, Rs 3,620, Rs 3,670, Rs 3,540 and Rs 3,530 per quintal respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 40.00-44.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,870-3,970, S-30 Rs 3,860-3,960.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,530-3,690, S-30 Rs 3,520-3,680.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,620, Kinnoni Rs 3,690, Asmoli Rs 3,670, Dorala Rs 3,620, Budhana Rs 3,660,Thanabhavan Rs 3,650, Dhanora Rs 3,620, Simbholi Rs 3,670, Khatuli Rs 3,670, Dhampur Rs 3,625, Ramala Rs 3,540, Anupshaher Rs 3,540, Baghpat Rs 3,550, Morna Rs 3,550, Sakoti Rs 3,590, Chandpur Rs 3,590, Nazibabad Rs 3,530 and Modi nagar 3,560.
