Sugar prices up on thin arrivals, spurt in demand

Sugar prices recovered by Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following speculative buying by stockists amid thin supplies.

Marketmen said the rise in sweetener prices was mostly attributed to spurt in demand from stockists and bulk consumers.

Besides, restricted supplies from millers and a firm trend at the futures market too supported the upside, they said.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices gained Rs 40 each to end at Rs 3,720-3,820 and Rs 3,710-3,810 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also higher by Rs 20 each to close at Rs 3,420-3,520 and Rs 3,410-3,510 per quintal.
 

In the millgate section, prices of government and co-operative

mills prices were also higher side on tight supplies.

Sugar Nazibabad spurted by Rs 40 at Rs 3,490, while Ramala, Baghpat, Anupshaher and Morana advanced by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,490, Rs 3,500, Rs 3,490 and Rs 3,500 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 35.00-40.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,720-3,820, S-30 Rs 3,710-3,810.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,420-3,520, S-30 Rs 3,410-3,510.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,450, Kinnoni Rs 3,520, Asmoli Rs 3,470, Dorala Rs 3,460, Budhana Rs 3,440, Thanabhavan Rs 3,430, Dhanora Rs 3,430, Simbholi Rs 3,480, Khatuli Rs 3,480, Dhampur Rs 3,420, Ramala Rs 3,490, Anupshaher Rs 3,490, Baghpat Rs 3,500, Morna Rs 3,500, Sakoti Rs 3,440, Chandpur Rs 3,490, Nazibabad Rs 3,490 and Malakpur Rs 3,430.
