Sugar prices firmed up by Rs 40 per quintal in the wholesale sugar market at national capital today following thin supply from mills amid buying by stockist and bulk consumers.
Marketmen said brisk demand from stockists, retailers and bulk consumers such as soft-drink, ice-cream and sweet makers, mainly led the rise in sweetener prices.
Surge in international markets alongwith government notification on export subsidy further supported sugar prices, they said.
