Sugar remains weak on poor demand

Sugar prices declined further at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to continuous selling by millers amid slack retail demand.

Small Sugar (S-30) fell by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 2,412/2,575 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 2,422/2,575.

Medium sugar (M-30) moved down by Rs 8/4 per quintal to Rs 2,542/2,726 compared to Rs 2,550/2,730 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,542/2,726 (Rs 2,550/2,730).

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,412/2,575 (Rs 2,422/2,575).
