Sugar prices rose up to Rs 40 per quintal in the wholesale sugar market at the national capital today mostly supported by increased offtake by stockists to meet rising demand from bulk consumers.
Besides, fall in supplies due to ongoing "kaanwar-yatra" too supported the upside in the sweetner prices.
Marketmen said apart from increased offtake by stockists to meet rising demand from bulk consumers such as ice-cream makers, restricted supplies by mills influenced sugar prices.
