Sugar rises on persistent demand

Sugar rose further at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to persistent demand from stockists and retailers on the back of ensuing festivities.

Medium sugar (M-30) climbed by Rs 16/10 per quintal to Rs 2,562/2,692 from Tuesday's level of Rs 2,546/2,682.

Small sugar (S-30) moved up by Rs 6/13 per quintal at Rs 2,472/2,605 compared to Rs 2,466/2,592 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,472/2,605 (Rs 2,466/2,592).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,562/2,692 (Rs 2,546/2,682).
