Sugar prices closed higher at the wholesale market in the national capital today on upsurge in demand from retailers as well as bulk consumers.
Traders attributed the rise in sugar prices to pickup in demand from retailers as well as bulk consumers against pause in supplies from mills.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 surged to Rs 3,220-3,380 and Rs 3,210-3,370 from previous levels of Rs 3,180-3,350 and Rs 3,170-3,340 per quintal, respectively.

Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 finished higher at Rs 3,020-3,190 and Rs 3,010-3,180 against last close of Rs 2,990-3,170 and Rs 2,980-3,160 per quintal, respectively.
In the millgate section, Mawana, Kinnoni, Asmoli, Dorala and Budhana also quoted higher at Rs 3,090, Rs 3,190, Rs 3,170, Rs 3,100 and Rs 3,100 instead of Rs 3,070, Rs 3,170, Rs 3,140, Rs 3,075 and Rs 3,080 per quintal, respectively.
Other millgate prices too ended in positive zone.
