Sugar strengthens on increased stockists' buying

Sugar prices advanced by up to Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists against thin supplies from mills.

Marketmen said, persistent buying by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drinks and ice-cream makers against restricted supplies, mainly kept sweetener prices higher.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices advanced by Rs 20 each to 4,000-4,100 and Rs 3,890-4,090 per quintal, respectively.

In the millgate section, Kinnoni and Asmoli rose by Rs 40 and Rs 10 to Rs 3,780 and Rs 3,720 per quintal, respectively.

Dourala and Budhana were also quoted higher by Rs 20 at Rs 3,710 each per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 42.00-45.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 4,000-4,100, S-30 Rs 3,890-4,090.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,580-3,740, S-30 Rs 3,570-3,730.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs N.Q., Kinnoni Rs 3,780, Asmoli Rs 3,720, Dorala Rs 3,710, Budhana Rs 3,710, Thanabhavan Rs 3,685, Dhanora Rs 3,710, Simbholi Rs 3,720, Khatuli Rs 3,725, Dhampur Rs 3,650, Ramala Rs 3,595, Anupshaher Rs 3,590, Baghpat Rs 3,600, Morna Rs 3,595, Sakoti Rs 3,670, Chandpur Rs 3,670, Nazibabad Rs 3,590, Modinagar N.Q., Shamli 3,670 and Nanota 3,590.
