Sugar surges on heavy demand, thin arrivals

Sugar prices shot up by Rs 150 per quintal in the wholesale sugar market here today following frantic buying amid thin supply from mills.

Marketmen said steep hike in demand for the summer season against reduced supply mainly pushed up the sweetener prices.

Sugar prices have climbed by Rs 500 per quintal in the past two months following reports of lower output this season, they said.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices jumped up from Rs 3300-3550 and Rs 3290-3540 to settle at Rs 3450-3650 and Rs 3440-3640 per quintal.

Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices climbed from Rs 3260-3410 and Rs 3250-3400 to finish at Rs 3390-3540 and Rs 3380-3530 per quintal.
 

Among millgate including duty section, Sugar Budhana, Dorala and Thanabhavan spurted by Rs 150 each to Rs 3480, Rs 3440 and Rs 3470 per quintal.

Sugar Mawana, Kinnoni and Dhanora also gained Rs 130 each to Rs 3420 and rest both Rs 3540 each per quintal.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,450-3,650, S-30 Rs 3,440-3,640.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,390-3,540; S-30 Rs 3,380-3,530.

Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana 3,420, Kinnoni 3,540, Asmoli 3,460, Dorala 3,440, Budhana 3,480, Thanabhavan 3,470, Dhanora 3,450, Simbholi 3,490, Modi Nagar Rs 3,360, Khatuli 3,490, Dhampur 3,400, Ramala 3,400, Bulandshar 3,440, Anupshar 3,380, Baghpat 3,410, Morna 3,410, Sakoti 3,370, Chandpur 3,410, Amroha N.T. And Nazibabad 3,390.
