Sugar takes gain forward as demand picks up

Sugar saw further rise in its prices at the wholesale market in the national capital today backed by rising demand from bulk consumers and retailers, and ended higher by another Rs 20 per quintal.

Marketmen said increased offtake by bulk consumers as well as retailers mainly gave push to rising sweetner prices.

Besides, pause in supplies from mills also supported the uptick, they said.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices edged higher by Rs.20 each to Rs.2,880-3,130 and Rs.2,870-3,120 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal)

Sugar retail markets - Rs 29.00-36.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,190-3,310, S-30 Rs 3,180-3,300.
 

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,880-3,130, S-30 Rs 2,870-3,120.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,020, Kinnoni Rs 3,120, Asmoli Rs 3,120, Dorala Rs 3,020, Budhana Rs 3,030, Thanabhavan Rs 3,020, Dhanora Rs 3,010, Simbholi Rs 3,130, Khatuli Rs 3,090, Dhampur Rs 2,990, Ramala Rs 2,890, Anupshaher Rs 2,880, Baghpat Rs 2,900, Morna Rs 2,890, Sakoti Rs 2,970, Chandpur Rs 2,980, Nazibabad Rs 2,890 and Malakpur Rs 2,960.
