Sugar weakens on sporadic demand, supply pressure

Sugar prices declined by Rs 60 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on unabated arrivals from mills coupled with limited offtake.

Marketmen said relentless supplies from mills amid scattered buying by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drinks and ice-cream makers mainly determined the fall in sweetener's prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices were trading lower by Rs 50 each to settle at Rs 4,050-4,150 and Rs 4,040-4,140 per quintal.

Likewise, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices quoted lower by Rs 40 each to end the day at Rs 3,660-3,860 and Rs 3,650- 3,850 per quintal, respectively.
 

In the mill gate section, sugar Asmoli dropped the most by Rs 60 to Rs 3,770 followed by Dhampur where prices were down Rs 55 to Rs 3,705, Nazibabad by Rs 50 to Rs 3,670 and Khatuli by Rs 45 to Rs 3,795 per quintal.

Sugar Kinnoni and Anupshaher also dipped by Rs 40 each to Rs 3,860 and Rs 3,660 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 41.00-45.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 4,050-4,150, S-30 Rs 4,040-4,140.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,660-3,860, S-30 Rs 3,650-3,850.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs N.Q., Kinnoni Rs 3,860, Asmoli Rs 3,770, Dorala Rs 3,750, Budhana Rs 3,740, Thanabhavan Rs 3,735, Dhanora Rs 3,750, Simbholi Rs 3,840, Khatuli Rs 3,795, Dhampur Rs 3,705, Ramala Rs 3,685, Anupshaher Rs 3,660, Baghpat Rs 3,700, Morna Rs 3,695, Sakoti Rs 3,710, Chandpur Rs 3,710, Nazibabad Rs 3,670, Modinagar N.Q., Shamli 3,720 and Nanota 3,685.
