A 32-year old woman employee of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department allegedly committed suicide in neighbouring Tirupur today with her family alleging torture by some higher officials drove her to take the extreme step.
Thilakavathi, a junior assistant in a temple administered by the department in Picchapalayam, was found hanging in her house this morning, police said.
Some relatives claimed that the suicide was the result of alleged torture by some higher officials while others suggested family problem to be the reason for the suicide, they said adding investigations were on.
