In an apparent suicide pact, two children died after consuming a cold drink laced with poison this evening at a lodge opposite railway station at Samralkota town, police said.

Their parents who ran out of the lodge vomiting are still untraceable, said police.

Four members of a family, including a man, his wife and their two daughters aged 8 and 10 had checked in a lodge last night, S Prasana Vinay Gowd, circle inspector of police, Peddapuram told PTI.

Prima facie it appears that the family consumed cold- drink laced with poison, said police.

"First they gave the poison-laced drink to their daughters and later the couple seems to have consumed it," added police.

According to details given by the lodge management, the couple ran out of their room vomiting, said police.

On seeing the couple running the lodge management informed the police who then broke open the room door and found the girls lying dead.

A case has been registered and investigations are on, said police.
