A mini secretariat building would be constructed at Sujanpur in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh to house offices of all the departments under one roof, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said.

He said that Primary Health Centres would be opened at Utpur and Chowri for providing better health services to the people of the remote areas of the Sujanpur.

Inaugurating the historic Holi festival at Sujanpur, he said that a Police Post would also be set up at Tauni Devi and if required, a Sub-Divisional office would also be opened at Sujanpur after seeking report from district administration.

Singh said that Sujanpur Holi festival was not only famous in Himachal but in entire Northern India and it was a matter of pride that the rich traditions associated with this festival are still being followed.

Praising the late Maharaja Sansar Chand for organising the Holi festival and himself playing Holi with common people, Singh said he brought people close to the ruler by turning it into a "folk festival" on patterns of Holi of Brij (Mathura).

The chief minister said that the festival was also linked with well-being and prosperity of people of the area as it promotes integration, tourism and trade business.

The famous Kangra school of painting also started and flourished during Maharaja Chand's rule and the paintings were acclaimed worldwide for its rich use of colours, Singh said.

He said the state government was striving hard to preserve and promote culture and traditions of the state and exhorted the people to extend their cooperation in this regard.

Local MLA Rajender Rana welcomed the chief minister and expressed his gratitude for providing Nagar Parishad status to Sujanpur.
