Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced the name of Ravinder Singh Brhampura as the party candidate for Khadoor Sahib Assembly constituency bypoll to be held on February 13.

Badal officially announced the name of Brhampura for the bypoll after paying obeisance at Golden Temple here.

Ravinder Singh Brhampura is the son of sitting SAD MP from Khadoor Sahib Parliament Constituency Ranjit Singh Brhampura who had lost the 2012 Assembly Election to Congress' first time candidate Ramanjit Singh Sikki.

However, Sikki who had resigned as MLA to protest against the sacrilege incidents in Tarn Taran, hasn't yet conveyed his willingness of contesting the polls to the Congress High Command as well as state party chief Captain Amarinder Singh.

The nominations for the Khadoor Sahib bypoll will begin from Wednesday. The Aam Aadmi Party is not contesting the election as it has its eyes on the bigger battle in 2017.
