Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him of the problems being faced by farmers of the border regions of the state.
An official spokesman said the farmers of border areas often had to face problems in cultivating their land situated across the barbed wire fence.
"Whenever India-Pakistan relations suffered a setback, the farming community of the border areas had to bear the brunt. In such events, the farmers should be adequately compensated for the hardship suffered by them," the spokesman said in a statement.
Rajnath Singh gave a patient hearing to the Deputy Chief Minister and assured him of conveying his concerns to higher ups in the government.
