Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today criticised the UPA government for extending a special industrial package to Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand till 2017, saying it was a "stab in the back of Punjab".

The move was a "part of the consistent campaign of discrimination" by the Congress government against Punjab, he told reporters here today.

"It is clearly a political decision as both the states are being ruled by the Congress," he said, adding that despite the "discriminatory" attitude of the UPA government, Punjab is bent upon achieving its target of an investment of Rs 65,000 crore in the state.

The Deputy Chief Minister described Punjab Congress leaders as a "bunch of cowards" who do not have the guts to criticise such a "discriminatory, anti-Punjab" move by the Centre.
