Punjab Congress today accused Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal of misleading industrial houses on VAT refund.
"Fake projection of facilities being given to industry in Punjab was one of the major reasons no new investment is coming to the state and the existing industry and traders were fed up with the SAD-BJP government," Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Partap Singh Bajwa said in a statement today.
During the recently-held Progressive Punjab Investment Summit, Sukhbir had claimed that the state had started online refund of VAT claims and had also promised special incentives to the IT industry in refund of VAT, he said.

Bajwa claimed that when a party activist sought information under the RTI Act, the Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab has revealed that till December 31 2013, VAT refund of Rs 380.78 crore was pending after 90 days of raising the claim.
Bajwa alleged if this was the state of affairs in the Excise and Taxation Department, how can Sukhbir blame the Opposition parties for painting a gloomy picture of Punjab.
Fake projections made by Sukhbir were doing the real damage to the state, he said.
Industries from Punjab were making an exodus due to lopsided industrial policy of SAD-BJP government, he alleged.
