The Punjab government has sanctioned Rs 1,668 crore projects for development of Amritsar and its adjoining areas.

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today reviewed the progress of the ongoing developmental projects and asked all departments to work in tandem to avoid any cost escalation and time overrun, an official release said here.

Asking the authorities to speed up the beautification work of the main entrance of the Golden Temple, Sukhbir said no delay beyond November would be acceptable.

Later in a separate meeting in which he reviewed the infrastructure requirements of local bodies, Sukhbir gave nod to multi-level robotic car parking system in congested commercial areas of all corporation towns.

Under the robotic car parking system, cars are collected by parking attendants and later taken to a definite parking slot by a robot-controlled conveyor belt.

Badal instructed all commissioners to identify suitable locations for setting up multi-level robotic car parking and asked the state secretary to submit a proposal regarding it by Monday.
