Terming the clash in Saharanpur as "very unfortunate", Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today appealed everyone to maintain peace and communal harmony.

"This politics of hatred must end. I appeal everyone to remain calm and refrain from fanning communal passions," Badal said in a statement.

Earlier, he also rang up Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to take every step to maintain law and order in Saharanpur.

Meanwhile, Badal informed that a delegation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has left for Saharanpur to take stock of the situation.

Three persons were killed today and at least 19 others, including policemen, injured as violent clashes broke out between two communities over a land dispute in Saharanpur in western Uttar Pradesh.
