The mortal remains of CRPF Head Constable Jagdish Vishnoi were consigned to flames in his native Nokha town of the district today.

Vishnoi along with 11 other CRPF personnel was killed in one of the deadliest Naxal attacks on security forces in the Maoist hotbed of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.

He was given guard of honour.

Union MoS for finance Arjun Ram Meghwal, parliamentary secretary Vishwanath, Divisional Commissioner Suwalal, IG BK Pandey, collector Vedprakash, SP Amandeep Singh Kapoor and others offered floral tributes to the departed soul.

The incident occurred at 9:15 AM in the dense forests near Kottacheru village under Bhejji police station, around 450 kms away from the state capital Raipur.

The Bhejji area in south Bastar region of the state is notorious for Naxal attacks and many security personnel have been killed here in the past. It is considered as the last bastion of the red ultras as the area sits right on the tri-junction of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
