Trinamool Congress MLA and former minister Sukumar Hansda was on Friday sworn in as the deputy speaker of the West Bengal legislative assembly.
The post fell vacant following the death of Haider Aziz Safwi, who passed away earlier this month due to old age related ailments.
Hansda, a former minister for Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs in the state government, has been an MLA from the Jhargram assembly constituency since 2011.
