Singh did not attend meeting of the manifesto committee headed by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma, his known detractor.

"Except Virbhadra Singh, other members attended the manifesto committee meeting," G S Bali, Convenor of the committee, told PTI.

He said the meeting deliberated on issues to be raised during the campaign for the elections due by the end of this year.

Virbhadra Singh has been sulking following appointment of Anand Sharma as Chairman of the party manifesto committee in which he has been made a member and more recently naming of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as head of the screening committee to shortlist candidates for the polls.

In an apparent flexing of muscles seeking to put pressure on the party high command, Singh, who recently resigned from Manmohan Singh cabinet following a court order in the CD controversy, has mobilized his loyalists in the party ahead of selection of candidates for the state poll.

Sources close to the senior Congress leader claimed 14 out of 23 Congress MLAs are still camping in the national capital to express solidarity with Singh. Besides, a large number of ex-MLAs, ex-MPs and members of state party's wings are here since yesterday to give strength to their leader to flex muscles to the party high command.

There had been reports of Singh being in touch with NCP of Sharad Pawar.

Singh had met Sonia twice yesterday.
