Sultry day in Delhi, mercury rises to 37 deg C

Delhiites experienced a sultry day today with the maximum temperature rising to 37 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, even as the weatherman predicted that rains may soon return to the city.

The minimum temperature settled at 28.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal. Humidity levels oscillated between 88 per cent and 49 per cent, MeT Department officials said.

The weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of rain or thundershowers tomorrow.

The Safdarjung observatory, figure of which is considered the official reading for the city, has not recorded any rainfall since yesterday.

Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 38 and 28 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, the corresponding figures were 35.8 and 26.2 degrees Celsius.
