Summer camps thriving in Berhampur

Special summer camps for school children are a big hit in this Silk City in south Odisha during vacation.

The camps organised by different organisations are offering a variety of crash courses that offer fun-filled learning experiences to school children.

From traditional sports to yoga, dancing and karate, the camps offer courses on basic computers to make children computer savvy.

Ganjam Sporting Club has arranged training on weightlifting, boxing, chess, basketball etc in the summer camp that started from May 8. Around 150 children have participated in the camp, which will continue for a fortnight.

"Children are enthusiastic to learn the basic techniques of the sports. The camp will help them to show their talent" said B. Babu Rao, a trainer.
 

Another organisation, Sanjeevani is offering yoga classes to children. "Besides meditation, kids are learning different yoga postures in the camp," said Anjali Senapati, a trainer.

Around 40 children in the age group of 5 to 15 years are participating in the camp which was inaugurated by Inspector General of Police, Berhampur Amitabh Thakur.

Nurtayan, is offering dance classes to school children. The 45-day dance course started from May 1, where several children are participating.
