Putting its weight behind former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for 'coalgate' summon, Jammu and Kashmir Congress unit today accused BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of "political witch-hunt" saying the party will fight the battle politically and legally.
"This (summoning of Singh) is political witch-hunting and we condemn it. Singh has been a financial expert and a Prime Minister and is one the most honest men, who is respected the world over.
"This may result in defaming the image of the country. That is why Congress party has taken a stand and we will fight this battle politically and legally," the state Congress president G A Mir told reporters at the sidelines of a function here.

"We can assess that this (the PDP-BJP coalition) is not the long lasting government. We are seeing that its base is crumbling and it cannot go a long way," Mir said.
Referring to their over two months of hard negotiations to stitch the coalition, Mir said "the two parties took a long time in coming together and we were expecting that they would come up with a big agenda for serving the people otherwise the basic ideologies of the two parties do not match.
"But we have not seen anything concrete to say that people will get some benefits. We are seeing that there is more politics than public service. I do not see people getting any benefit from this government as there would be uncertainties," he said.
