A sunny morning in Jammu region provided some respite to people from the biting cold.
The night temperature is on decline in Jammu since December 13 after high altitude areas experienced heavy snowfall between December 11 and 14.
The city was also lashed by incessant rains during the period, resulting in a marked drop in the maximum temperature which settled at 14.3 degrees Celsius, the seasons lowest, on December 11.

Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, marked an improvement in the night temperature which settled at 7.2 degrees Celsius against the previous nights 6 degrees Celsius.
The snow-covered Banihal, the highway town along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, recorded a minimum of 1.7 degrees Celsius against the previous nights minus 1.8 degrees Celsius, the spokesman said.
