A 'Superman' TV prequel based around Krypton is in the making at Syfy.

Producer David S Goyer ('Man of Steel', 'The Dark Knight' trilogy) is behind the project on Superman's grandfather, alongside DC Entertainment and Warner Horizon Television, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The official description for 'Krypton' read: "Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracised.

"This series follows The Man of Steel's grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known."

'Krypton' would be a new one-hour drama series to air on Syfy.

'Once Upon a Time' writer Ian Goldberg is working on the teleplay, based on a story that he created with Goyer.
