The farmers have been agitating for not being supplied subsidised seeds of different crops, particularly cotton, and the government was not taking necessary steps to meet the demand of farmers, BJP state party president G Kishan Reddy told reporters here.
The government should seize the seeds being sold in black market and take steps to help farmers by making arrangements for supply of subsidised seeds at mandal headquarters, he demanded.
Reddy said the government had announced Rs 1,817 crore as input subsidy last year to help those who lost crops in 80 lakh acres due to drought and it was announced that 52.5 lakh farmers have lost their crops.
But the help has not reached even 25,000 farmers so far, he alleged. The BJP leader demanded the government to take immediate measures to help farmers who lost their crops last year.
To protest the government's adamant attitude, the party would organise "jail bharo" programme on June 22, he said.
