Bengaluru Bulls coach Randhir Singh today said the previous association of Srikant Tewthia and Surjeet Narwal with Dabang Delhi did not make it any easier for them to post a win as their rivals were aware of the weaknesses of these two players.
"No, we were not benefited with the past association of Tewthia and Narwal with Delhi Dabang. It also did not help us to post victory that easy because Delhi knew the weaknesses of these two players," he told PTI.
The team is in the city to play their home matches after they begun their third season in great style by defeating Delhi Dabang convincingly in Visakhapatnam.
Singh said he worked on the weaknesses of Tewthia and Narwal and helped them improve their skills.
"I worked on the weaknesses of these two players. For example Tewthia did not use to dive. I made him dive. Dabang had this in their mind Tewthia cannot dive, and this worked in our favour. There was a surprise element for Dabang," he said.
Singh said his team was not disappointed to concede points towards the end of the match against Delhi as it was part of a strategy to win by a set margin.
"I was not disappointed by conceding more points to our opponents towards the end of the match. It was part of a strategy to win (Dabang) either with a margin of 14 or eight points," Singh said.
"If you are conceding touch points, its okay, but don't give away four points regularly, then you allow the opponents to bounce back," he said.
Singh said he expects his team to give their best and execute whatever they learnt from him in the match.
"I don't live on hopes. Beliefs and faith can be shattered. What I want from them is that whatever I have taught them, they should give hundred per cent in the match. I don't mind if they lose after giving a fight," he said.
Singh further said he is impressed with Deepak Dahiya, Shrikant Tewthia and Surjeet Narwal as beating a star-studded team like Delhi is quite a feat.
"I am very satisfied with players such as Dahiya, Tewthia and Narwal. To beat a star-studded team is no mean job. It is quite a feat," he said.
