Countering the Chief Minister's charge that Delhi Police was the "most corrupt", top cop BS Bassi today said that the survey cited by Arvind Kejriwal while making such remarks was actually "flattering" for the force and offered to help him understand its findings.
Bassi said he has gone through the 34-page survey, which was done by Centre for Media Studies (CMS), and claimed that its findings had "doubled" his force's enthusiasm.
"The survey reveals that, in 2012, 80% of the people in Delhi said they have experienced corruption in dealing with police officials; that rate has dropped to 34% in 2015.
"Similarly, the perception that police officials are corrupt has dropped from 56% in 2012 to 49% in 2015," Bassi said on the sidelines of the the Police Commemoration Day Parade here today.
Taking a dig at the chief minister, he said, "After reading the survey thoroughly, I can go for a one-on-one debate with anybody regarding its results. If the honourable CM allows, I can help him understand those findings."
Bassi added that "the findings of the survey are flattering" for Delhi Police and that "it has doubled the force's enthusiasm".
The commissioner said that sanitation and police services were the only areas in Delhi which have witnessed a drop both in terms of experienced and perceived corruption.
Citing the CMS survey, Kejriwal had yesterday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "stop being stubborn" and hand over Delhi Police and the Anti-Corruption Branch to AAP government.

"Modi ji stop being stubborn, work with us. Hand over ACB and police to Delhi Government. We will deliver in a year," the Chief Minister said in a series of tweets.
