Terming the survey work to assess damages suffered by rain-hit farmers as faulty, Rashtriya Lok Dal today demanded adequate compensation for the families of farmers who died of shock after crop losses.

"Though the government made an announcement of providing relief to those farmers who are dying of shock or committing suicides in the face of massive losses, the officials are finding excuses to desist it," RLD National Secretary Anil Dubey said in a statement.

The government should ensure that all hinderances, including concerned rules, are removed for extending relief to all the farmers without any discrimination, he said.

The RLD leader also termed as faulty and irrelevant, the survey being conducted by government officials to assess farmers' losses alleging that they are presenting a fake data.

He stressed on including representatives of farmers organsations and agriculture scientists in the team carrying out the survey for a proper estimate of losses.
