Surveyor caught red-handed while accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe

Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) surveyor K S S Prasada Rao was caught red-handed by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant here today, official sources said.

The complainant K Sudhakar of Sivajipalem had planned to set up an oil mill at Padmanabham area and he applied to VUDA for clearance of the land needed to set up the project four months ago.

The job was assigned to surveyor Prasad by his seniors.

However the surveyor allegedly kept the application file at him for 20 days and allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 to do the "favour".
 

Sudhakar approached ACB officials, who laid a trap and arrested Prasad red-handed while he was accepting the Rs 10,000 bribe from the complainant.

The accused was presented before court which remanded him to custody for fourteen days.
