BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi today demanded that Bihar Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) inquire the recovery of liquor bottles from an arrested JD(U) block president's house in Nalanda and the district administration's alleged bid to cover up.
Excise officials had recovered 168 bottles (200 ml each) of country-made liquor in seven cartons from the house of Harnaut block JD(U) president Chandrajeet Kumar Sen alias Moti Singh in Lohra village of Nalanda district on August 30, Modi said.
Sen was arrested by the police but his wife Madhumita Singh, who is the village-head, was not held, he said, alleging that senior officials of the district were trying to protect the JD(U) member while trying to falsely implicate another person in the case.

Talking to reporters after visiting Lohra village today, Modi said, "The Chief Secretary and the DGP should inquire into the entire incident as both the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police are trying to protect the block president of ruling JD(U) while another person, Saumendra Singh, political rival of Sen, is being falsely implicated in the case."
Modi claimed that the DM and the SP have written a joint letter, mentioning Sen as innocent, which would be submitted before the court to help him secure bail.
"What is happening in the name of prohibition in Bihar where DM and SP are working as JD(U) worker," he wondered.
