Two-time Olympic medallist and ace wrestler Sushil Kumar today distributed pepper sprays to girls as he chipped in to support a Delhi Police initiative to skill them in self defence.

Under 'Sashakti' initiative, more than 5,000 girl students from five government schools were given self-defence training for a week in Kumar's village Najafgarh, in outer Delhi.

During an event in Najafgarh at the concluding day, the girls demonstrated the skills they acquired during the programme in the presence of Kumar, Kabaddi player Suman Lata, joint commissioner of police (Southwest) Satish Golcha and other senior police officials.

The girls were handed over a special 'Sashakti Kit' comprising a cap, whistle and pepper spray, etc.

While educating the girls about using the spray, a trainer told them it should always be kept in an empty pocket.

"You should always keep the pepper spray in an empty pocket. In case of an untoward incident, it shouldn't happen that you are not able to take it out in time," said the trainer.
