Sushma Swaraj holds talks with Ghana counterpart

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today held talks with her Ghanian counterpart Shirley Botchwey and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of capacity building and trade and to strengthen people-to-people ties.

"Cementing our connect with Africa! EAM @SushmaSwaraj and Ghana Foreign Minister Shirley Botchwey lead the delegation-level talks. Two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in development cooperation, capacity building, trade & investment and people-to-people relationship," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.

"Following the meeting between EAM @sushmaswaraj and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana Shirley Botchwey, two MOUs on Cultural Exchange Programme and on cooperation between Bureau of Indian Standards and Ghana Standards Authority were signed," Kumar said in another tweet.

 

According to the official data, India has extended lines of credit amounting to about USD 230 million to Ghana for various development projects.

Some of the projects have been completed while a few are in various stages of implementation.

The bilateral trade between the two countries was USD 2620.82 million in 2016-17, tilted in the favour of Ghana.
