"An unclaimed car was seen parked at Nowgam bypass and immediately the Bomb Disposal Squad was informed to check the vehicle for any hidden explosive," official sources said.
On searching the vehicle, a plastic can weighing around five kg was found inside and it is suspected to be an IED, the sources said.
They said the vehicle was towed away to an open area and traffic on the road suspended as a precautionary measure.
