Suspected Maoist absconding for 23 years arrested in Bihar

In a major catch, a suspected veteran Maoist, who is accused in several cases of violence and absconding since 1992, was arrested from Patna rural district area today.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vikas Vaibhav said the arrested Maoist has been identified as Indresh Ram and was nabbed from a place in Paliganj area of Patna district following a special operation.

"Indresh has been an important Maoist involved in at least nine cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and violation of Arms Act in Paliganj and Masaurhi police station areas. He was absconding for a long time," the SSP said.
 

Paliganj Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mithilesh Kumar said the arrested Maoist was in hiding in the area and his interrogation may provide deep insights into the Left Wing extremism.
