Shiv Kumar alias Shiva, who hails from Jharkhand's Ranchi, was apprehended by Delhi Police's Crime Branch from the city yesterday and a 9 mm pistol was allegedly recovered from him, a senior police official said.

The official said the arrested Maoist was an expert in arms and explosives.

"He is wanted in a murder case as well as in cases of attack on police parties," the official said.

This is the second arrest of a Maoist hailing from Jharkhand in the capital in the past one month.

Pradeep Kumar, a 42-year-old suspected Maoist who was wanted in the murder of a senior police officer 12 years ago and had participated in an agitation for separate statehood for Jharkhand, was arrested in the capital on May ten.

Singh, who hails from Latehar in Jharkhand, was wanted in the murder of Dr Ajay Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police of Lohardaga in October 2000. Singh is now an ideologue and recruiter.
