Suspected Maoists set 2 election campaigning vehicles on fire

Suspected Maoists today set on fire two election campaigning vehicles in Kiura village in naxal-hit West Singhbhum district, a senior police officer said.

Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police N K Singh told PTI that two election campaigning vehicles including one belonging to Congress party candidate were set on fire this afternoon.

Singh said the other vehicle was engaged in voters awareness campaign launched by the government to ensure maximum participation of the electorate in the poll.

A police team rushed to the spot take stock of the situation and launched a search operation in the Saranda forest, police said.
 

Out of 14 assembly constituencies in Kolhan division comprising of East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts, 13 constituencies will go to poll in the second phase on December 2.
