A suspected NDFB(S) cadre was today arrested from the city outskirts by a joint security team, official sources said.
Acting on a tip-off of Army's Gajraj Intelligence, a joint team of the Army, police and CRPF's 175 BN launched an operation to apprehend the suspected extremist, identified as Saitom Rabha, from a city hotel where he had been staying for the past two weeks, defence sources said.
Twenty-year-old Rabha, who was suspected to have visited the city to carry out a kidnapping plot, managed to escape in a vehicle towards Jagiroad in neighbouring Morigaon district, they said.

All security checkposts were alerted and finally Rabha, hailing from the from Kokrajhar district, was nabbed near Khetri area.
A US-made 9mm pistol, three rounds of live cartridge, a mobile handset along with a SIM card, an identity card, cash amounting to Rs 3,400, a driving licence and a car were seized from him, they added.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter, the sources said.
