Naukri.Com today said cyber criminals, suspected to be from Russia, tried to hack its website earlier this month, an attempt the online jobs portal claims has not affected its employer/recruiter operations.

"There was an attempt to breach the security of naukri.Com site on April 16 in the wee hours of the morning. These attacks seem to have emanated from Russia," a Naukri.Com spokesperson told PTI.

As a precautionary measure, the website immediately reset the passwords of jobseekers, and to ensure safety of data, suspended the login, registration, edit, forgot password and apply functionality of the site for a few hours, she added.

"The employer/recruiter side of the website was not affected in any manner by this incident. We have upped our security infrastructure, operational control and vigilance in the wake of the rise in recent attacks on websites across the world," the spokesperson said.

Naukri.Com sent e-mails to jobseekers informing them about this development and advising them to change their passwords.

The e-mail says: "We have been experiencing security attacks on our website. In order to ensure safety of your account, we suggest that you create a new password.

"Our security team is closely investigating and monitoring all activity. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and would like to assure you that we are taking extensive measures to ensure the security of all your data."

Shares of Info Edge (India) Ltd, the company that operates naukri.Com and other portals, fell 0.1 per cent to Rs 582 at the close on the BSE today.
