Odisha's vigilance directorate here today began examining the suspended IPS officer Satisah Kumar Gajbhiye over his wife's alleged accumulation of government land in the Gop block of Puri district for fish farming.

Sources said an IG level officer of the anti-corruption wing of the state police summoned the suspended IPS officer and questioned him at the headquarters here relating to his wife's accumulation of land in Puri district.

A team of vigilance sleuths last week had gone to Gop block to verify the allegations.

The controversial IPS officer, who was removed as Kendrapara SP last week for allegations of police excesses was suspended for violating the Service Conduct Rules.

Reports have alleged that Gajbhiye, entangled in chit fund scam, was instrumental in procuring vast stretches of land in the name of his wife and had not disclosed them in his property statements.

While Gajbhiye claimed his wife had purchased a little over seven acres of land in Puri district for fish farming, revenue records show over 22 acres of adjacent government land had been encroached for the purpose.
