Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Jagat Prakash Nadda (BJP) described as unfortunate IOC suspending the recognition of IOA and said it came about due to government's continued interference in the functioning of sports bodies.
The BJP member alleged that the "interference" by Sports Ministry was affecting prospects of sports in the country.
Raising questions on the future of sports in India, he asked as to what would happen to the scholarships of players and how Indian players will participate in Olympic Games.
Nadda said the problem did not come suddenly but due to government's "attitude" as no external intervention is allowed to interfere in the functioning of sports bodies like IOA.
He said after "government's continued interference" the IOC wrote to the government and the Sports Ministry but no step was taken to protect the interests of sports in India.
In a huge embarrassment for India, the International Olympic Committee on Tuesday suspended the Indian Olympic Association because of government interference, a development which put a bar on the country's Olympic participation. The IOC ban implies that India cannot participate in international events like Olympics.
The IOC had repeatedly told the IOA not to follow the government's sports code for the elections on the ground that it would be a violation of the Olympic Charter and compromise autonomy.
The suspension means that the IOA will stop receiving IOC funding and its officials will be banned from attending Olympic meetings and events. India's athletes will be barred from competing in Olympic events under their national flag, but they can participate under the IOC banner.
