Scores of Youth Congress workers today protested the suspension of 25 party MPs from the Lok Sabha by organising demonstrations across the state.

Youth Congress members, wearing black clothes and carrying black flags, held an agitation in front of the offices of city's collector and sub-divisional magistrate here.

The protesters, led by state Youth Congress President Kunal Choudhry and Congress leader Syed Saud Hasan, also took out a rally to Raj Bhawan.

Choudhry dubbed as 'black day for democracy' the suspension of 25 party MPs from Lok Sabha.

"It was an attempt to muzzle the voice of the Opposition and murder the democratic values. The suspension is totally undemocratic," he said.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should ask for resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who are embroiled in the Lalit Modi controversy and of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the Vyapam scam before "initiating a debate on the issues".

On Monday, 25 of 44 Congress MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha for five days for "unruly behaviour". The action was taken by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who is elected to the Lower House from Indore constituency in the state.
