Volunteers of different wings of the opposition Congress today held a demonstration at the head post office condemning the suspension of 25 Congress MPs by Lok Sabha Speaker for the next five days.

Addressing the agitators senior Congress leader and former union minister V Narayanasamy said that suspension of the MPs was a 'mayhem of democracy and deserved to be condemned in strongest terms'.

He said that the Prime Minister should sack the Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj from the post as there had been serious allegations against her in the Lalit Modi row. Similarly the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh should also be sacked as they were also facing charges either in Lalit Modi controversy or Vyapam scam.

PCC leader Namassivayam said that the suspension of the party MPs by the BJP led NDA government was a clear case of 'strangling democracy and freedom of speech'.

Leader of the Opposition V.Vaithilingam said that there were irregularities in admission under government quota to the private medical colleges in Puducherry. 'Puducherry also witnesses Vyapam like corruption and hence the Chief Minister N.Rangasamy should also quit office as students were facing unbearable implications of the corruption in admission to professional colleges', he said.
