Myanmarese State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi today met Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi in the capital.

Suu Kyi arrived in Delhi yesterday after returning from Goa where she attended BRICS-BIMSTEC outreach meet on Sunday.

Gandhi tweeted, "I was delighted to receive a message that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi wanted to meet me."

"Her association with my family goes back four decades. It was indeed a pleasure to catch up with her and remember our association of so many years," she said.

Earlier, she called on President Pranab Mukherjee, who hosted a private lunch at Rashtrapati Bhawan for the Myanmarese State Counsellor.

Suu Kyi also held talks with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the two leaders discussed ways in which India could support Myanmar's agenda of national reconciliation.

The Nobel Laureate, who has described Mahatma Gandhi as one of her "greatest sources" of influence, also visited Rajghat where she received a ceremonial welcome.
