Painter Suvaprasanna pegged the price of his just painted Owl, on green canvas, at Rs 1.5 lakh to aid the visually impaired children of an NGO at an auction.

Eminent fashion designer Sarbari Dutta put her ethnic-western fusion designer scarf, priced at Rs 40,000 while the saffron robes of Moner Manush actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, having brought to life the 19th century balladeer character Lalon Fakir on celluloid in the Goutam Ghosh biopic, was bought by a prominent film distribution company head for thousands.

"More than the price, the auction has its symbolic value as the proceeds will be used for the education and extracurricular activities of the 20-odd children of Premasree," popular singer Nipabithi Ghosh, having joined the chorus 'Amra Sabai Raja' with the kids before the auction, said.

"I had done live art installation at many forums. But this one is different as I am drawing the sketches before the children who are endowed with special God-gifted power. They may not see the painting physically, but as I drew and exp-lained the strokes before them, I felt connected," Suvaprasanna said.
