The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) today summoned the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Jammu to explain his alleged failure to demarcate forest land where illegal construction of complexes has taken place.

The Commission issued notice to ACR Jammu, directing him to show cause as to why action shall not be initiated against him as warranted under rules for non-compliance of the order of the Commission, a SVC officer said.

"ACR has been further asked to appear in person before the Commission along with a reply to the show cause notice on next date of hearing fixed on November 11," he said.

The ACR has also been directed to ensure demarcation of the land as reflected in communication addressed to him by director land management of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) well before the next date of hearing, the officer said.

The Commission took notice of a complaint lodged by Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah against JDA, revenue and forest departments for allegedly allowing illegal construction of huge complexes on the state-forest land and Gair-mumkin Khad, two of which are being raisedat Bathindi and another near Herbal Park at Narwal Chowk in Jammu.

The SVC directed Departmental Vigilance Officer, Forest Department, DFO Jammu, Director Land Management, JDA and Deputy Commissioner Jammu for a comprehensive report after due enquiry and checking of records, the officer said.
