Stating that the 'Swachh Hyderabad' campaign launched by his government this week was a success, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today asked government officials and political leaders to work for betterment of civic amenities.

Rao, who reviewed the campaign here, said the government would provide two plastic baskets to collect wet and dry garbage separately from every household.

To do away with practise of carrying the garbage on cycle-rickshaws, the government would buy about 2,000 'auto trolleys' which would also provide employment to youth, he said.

The garbage collected from houses would be used for power generation and making of compost fertilisers, a government release quoted him as saying.

Rao also said that two lakh houses would be built in the city in phases for the poor.

Governor ESL Narasimhan expressed confidence that "a new Hyderabad would be seen in the next six months" following implementation of the campaign, the release added.
